“ It gives me a thrill,” says magician Jeff Cardwell, “I like to invoke the original sense of wonder in people, much like the wonder a child experiences when they see their first snow.”  Jeff Cardwell is an exciting illusionist. He has been interested in magic since the age of 5. He says his favorite magician is the famous escape artist Harry Houdini. Jeff believes that Houdini was the best marketer of his time, just ad Barnum & Bailey promoted the egress, Houdini could promote himself anywhere in the world. “After all, my main goal is to entertain; anyone can do trick,” he says.Jeff has been performing the art of sideshow stunts for many years. If you are wondering what sideshow stunts are think of a circus and the wonders of the midway, all the noises that are around you – the barkers for the games of chance, the sideshow wonders, the strongman, the bearded lady, and the smallest horse in the world! It’s the curiosity that gets you – “Are they real, or are they fake? Put down your dollar and come see!” That’s the wonder of the sideshow.   Jeff was taught by his friend and ex-circus performer to perform a few of these trick, which included fire eating, fire breathing, the bed of nails, and the human blockhead. Jeff would also like to add to his repertoire of stunts glass walking, bullwhips, and knife throwing, “Roy Slater taught me everything about the subjects, safety torches and most important – fuels. Safety is #1- it only takes one time not to perform again.   Jeff has been performing stunts for 20 years to be exact. He has covered all the different venues- theater, concerts, nightclubs, and fundraisers.
